Already the most popular small car, according to Honda.com, the 2013 Honda Civic earned the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s TOP SAFETY PICK, elevating the sedan to the top spot in safety ratings for it’s class. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration also announced the popular four-door vehicle attained a Five-Star Overall Score, the highest achievable mark.
New standard features in this year’s model include a backup camera, Bluetooth wireless phone connectivity and numerous smartphone unifications such as Bluetooth streaming audio, text message functions and Pandora Internet radio. All these features and more a value steal.
Every tested vehicle in Honda’s lineup in 2013 has earned the TOP SAFETY PICK from IIHS, a feat that leads the industry. The sedan is equipped with Honda’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure. The innovative addition distributes collision energy evenly, redirecting it away from the passenger seat. Needless to say, ACE™ played a large role in making the 2013 Honda Civic the first small cars to earn the IIHS’ highest safety rating.
The 2013 Accord also earned these prominent ratings in the midsize class. All Civics are also equipped with SmartVent, front, side and overhead impact airbags along with stability control to bolster safe handling.
