As the fourth generation of the beloved Honda Odyssey was released, Honda also unveiled a future concept of the best selling minivan. So far, the Honda Odyssey has been the most popular minivan with individual American car buyers for each of the past six years and led the pack once again in 2016. As mentioned before, the 2016 model was also recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the Best Minivans for Families for a record-breaking sixth year as well as earning recognition as one of Kelley Blue Book’s Best Family Cars of 2016.
With the 2018 model, Honda is hoping to turn the Honda Odyssey into a technological hub that includes a variety of features. Some of these advanced connectivity and entertainment features include New Display Audio, streaming video with 4G LTE Wi-Fi and CabinWatch and CabinTalk. These new cabin features utilize a camera that lets the driver and front passenger keep an eye on the rear passengers both day and night via an eight-inch Display Audio screen. If you catch one of the kids doing something they shouldn’t be, CabinTalk allows the driver to talk to the second and third-row passengers through the speakers and rear entertainment system headphones.
The new family-friendly vehicle features Honda’s modern styling similar to their other vehicles. The new models will also be powered by a 3.5-liter, direct-injected i-VTEC™ V-6 engine with Variable Cylinder Management™ (VCM™). At its peak, the engine output is expected to be 280 net horsepower, an additional 32 hp on previous models. The car will come with either a 9-speed automatic or an all-new, Honda-developed 10-speed automatic, the first of its kind in a minivan, providing more confident and refined performance. Honda believes that these powertrains, when combined with the Odyssey’s new sleek and aerodynamic design, are expected to result in continued class-leading performance and top-in-class EPA fuel economy ratings.

The release date for one of Honda’s most anticipated vehicles, the 2017 Honda Civic Type R, is drawing closer as additional information has been announced. The news announcement came as a huge relief to many loyal fans and owners of the already popular vehicle.
Reports from Road and Track have confirmed that the Type R will remain untouched by a continuously variable transmission (CVT). The CVT, according to Autotrader is a lesser-known alternative to conventional automatic transmissions. Unlike those transmissions, a CVT doesn’t have any gears, but instead stays in a single “magical” gear.
Honda says the Type R will build upon the low and wide proportion of the new popular Civic Hatchback we’ve in previous posts. The Type R is expected to enhance the body of the hatchback with a more muscular styling and modifications to aid in its overall aerodynamic performance. The prototype of the vehicle was shown with a highly reflective and finely brushed aluminum-effect finish and the Red “H” badge. The car now features a new intake on the hood, with an air scoop sited centrally in a trapezoidal recess. The vehicle also features smoked lenses for the headlights, indicators and side indicator repeater lights that reflect the Type R’s more aggressive character.
Further reports say the Type R will feature front-wheel drive with a limited-slip differential for the front axle. The car is also said to have a lower center of gravity compared to the current version of the 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback, upon which the Type R is largely based. Many anticipate the vehicle to feature a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that delivers over 300 horsepower. This would make it almost twice as powerful as the other Civics in Honda’s lineup. With the new year upon us, the Type R is currently slated to make its production debut at the 87th Geneva International Motor Show in March.

Since 1994 The North American Car and Truck and Utility Vehicle of the Year awards have honored excellence in the fields of innovation, design safety, performance, technology, driver satisfaction and overall value. The judges for the award consist of over 50 professional automotive journalists from both the United States and Canada. Because the award is not associated with a specific publication the panel is able to create a diverse base of judges. This year the panelists not only selected the Honda Ridgeline as a finalist but as the overall top selection.
Car enthusiasts at Car and Driver have fallen in love with the spacious and comfortable interior, claiming the vehicle “embarrasses the competition.” fell in love with the spacious and comfortable interior, claiming it “embarrasses the competition.” The pickup truck has also been recognized for its superior safety record. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, or IIHS, discussed tests performed on a series of trucks where the Ridgeline stood out. Overall, the IIHS has provided superior safety ratings for the truck that are well within Honda’s standards of excellence.
Honda states that unlike most pickups and trucks, this vehicle is a great everyday mode of transportation that can provide consumers with a multitude of features that are not offered among competing brands, such as Ford and Chevrolet. These features include an in-bed storage compartment with a drain and dual-action tailgate that opens vertically and horizontally to allow for easy loading and finally weatherproof speakers in the bed making this vehicle ideal for tailgating.

The fourth generation of the Honda Odyssey, one of the best selling minivans in the country, has finally arrived. According to Honda, the Odyssey has been the most popular minivan with individual American car buyers for each of the past six years and is leading the pack once again for 2016. The minivan has also been the top choice of buyers under 35 every year since 2013. The 2016 model was also recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the Best Minivans for Families for a record-breaking sixth year as well as earning recognition as one of Kelley Blue Book’s Best Family Cars of 2016.
The new 2017 Honda Odyssey will continue to offer class-leading fuel-economy ratings of 19/27/22 mpg city/highway/combined, respectively. With the ability to carry eight passengers comfortably, the whole family will be able to comfortably enjoy long road trips. The new model will also see the SE and EX-L trims fitted with the acoustic windshield found in previous models. This feature helps to reduce noise from entering the cabin, making every drive quieter and more enjoyable.
The Odyssey utilizes the next-generation of the Honda Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure and makes extensive use of high-strength steel. This results in a very strong front frame and door structure for increased protection in a frontal collision. The new model will be powered by a 3.5-liter, 24-valve V-6 engine that produces up to 248 horsepower. The engine is also paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission that, together with the new engine, helps the Odyssey receive such an efficient EPA fuel-economy.
For those looking for the best of the best, consider an upgrade to the Odyssey SE and Touring Elite models featuring HondaVac. This in-vehicle vacuum cleaner system is designed to help families keep the Odyssey’s interior neat and clean. The device, designed for dry use, operates on the vehicle’s 12-volt electrical system and easily surpasses the performance of handheld rechargeable vacuums.

The more aggressive structure is created by a crisp front-end design mixed with stylized headlights and muscular fenders for a much more masculine looking SUV. The EX trim and higher comes standard with the new turbocharged engine along with a more powerful and fuel-efficient 1.5 liter direct-injected engine.
The interior of the vehicle showcases premium features such as a top-in-class interior space, remote engine start, dual-zone climate controls, rear USB charging ports and more! Cars.com says the vehicle addresses certain issues that held the previous generation back, thus resulting in a more well-rounded model. Their review goes on to say that Honda took on the previous issues directly in their redesign and have done an incredible job in addressing them. If you don’t believe what they have to say about the amazing new CR-V, we encourage you to stop by our dealership and test drive one for yourself while supplies last! Consumer Guide Automotive recognizes vehicles that stay current with the latest automotive trends and test drives more than 150 new vehicles each year. From that group, they select the top cars in each class as Best Buys for their highest ranking and honor. According to Consumer Guide, “A vehicle does not become a Best Buy based solely on objective ratings. It also has to distinguish itself as being a good dollar value compared to others in the class.” The three Honda cars that received awards this year were the Pilot, HR-V and Ridgeline truck.
The all-new redesigned Ridgeline was named as the best compact pickup truck because it offered the best comfort, convenience and driving dynamics of any small pickup. As we mentioned previously, the new truck comes with a plethora of new features. But Consumer Guide especially admired the blending of the pickup-truck utility with the civility of a car in a sensible package.
Not to be outdone, the upgraded 2017 Pilot took home the award for best midsize crossover/SUV. Consumer Guide felt that the Pilot boasted an impressive selection of available comfort and safety features combined with a nicely finished cabin and excellent fuel efficiency for its size. It’s also worth mentioning that the Pilot is one of the few vehicles in its class to offer the ability to seat eight passengers. All trim levels except for the Elite model offer this seating capacity. The Elite drops down to seven passengers due to the second row of captain’s chairs that offer additional comfort. The 2017 model builds upon the 2016 Pilot’s redesign by adding additional space and more advanced safety and technology features.
With its announcement earlier this year during the Second Annual National Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Day regarding the 2017 Honda Fuel Cell Clarity, Honda has now announced the lease pricing for the new sedan. According to Honda, the vehicle will be competitively leased at an introductory lease price of $369 a month for 36 months (plus tax). Additionally, the terms of the lease include an attractive mileage allowance of 20,000 per year, up to $15,000 of hydrogen fuel, up to 21 days of an Avis Luxury Rental in California and 24/7 roadside assistance.
Steve Center, vice president of the Environmental Business Development Office at American Honda Motor Co., Inc., believes that launching the Clarity at an affordable lease price will enable more consumers to enjoy the benefits of the fuel cell vehicle. As was mentioned previously, the Clarity Fuel Cell has received an EPA driving range of close to 366 miles. The fuel economy rating of the new car has come in at 68 MPGe (miles per gallon of gasoline-equivalent), allowing it to stay on the road longer and providing the best range rating of any zero-emission vehicle.
Honda designed the hydrogen powered car to meet customer needs without sacrificing performance or safety. The Clarity Fuel Cell is over 30 percent more compact than previous models, with a power output of over 60 percent more than the Honda FCX Clarity. As with many Honda sedans, the new model will feature a low and wide aerodynamic body with clean lines while the interior showcases a refined design that utilizes rich materials and intuitive controls. Customers will continue to be able to enjoy the Honda Sensing™ suite of safety and driver assistive technologies, Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™.
The Honda Civic, already recognized as Kelley Blue Book’s 2016 Small Car Best Buy, Kelley Blue Book’s 2016 Overall Best Buy and AutoGuide’s 2016 North American Car of the Year just got even better with two recent announcements. Not only has the 2017 Honda Civic been named Kelley Blue Book’s Overall Best Buy, but the lineup is expanding with the announcement that the Civic Si will be joining the family. The 2017 model is said to be the fastest and most powerful Si to date from Honda and will come in both a coupe and sedan body style.
The Rallye Red Pearl Civic Si Prototype comes with a full factory performance aero kit that includes front and rear splitters and a rear spoiler. Both the sedan and the coupe will be powered by a high-performance, high-torque 1.5-liter engine with dual variable cam timing. The direct-injected and turbocharged engine will be paired with a short-shifting 6-speed manual transmission, according to Honda. Furthermore, the Si variants will both feature performance upgrades that include a new active damper system, active steering system, limited-slip differential and available high-performance tires making this one of the best-handling Si models offered.
The interior of the vehicle sports Si-exclusive front sport seats with red stitching that includes stitched Si logos. The red sport stitching carries through to the doors, steering wheel and leather shift boot with aluminum shift knob. The Si Prototype interior also features a red driver’s TFT meter and audio system illumination, aluminum sport pedals and Dry Metal Carbon instrument panel trim.
The Civic Si Coupe and Si Sedan are expected to hit the market next year as the latest additions to the 10th generation of the Honda Civic lineup that includes the Civic Sedan, Civic Coupe and the euro styled Civic Hatchback. Call us at 913-782-3636 to schedule a test drive of one of the fabulous award winning models today.
Honda has released several different models of their ever popular Civic model including the TypeR, Coupe, Sedan and the new Hatchback. When Honda first announced that a Hatchback model would be making its way to the U.S. market, the anticipation was immense. Honda is now predicting that the new model will make up nearly 15 percent of all Civic sales in the U.S. with an expected 50,000 units annually, according to Wards Auto.
To help consumers choose between the Civic Sedan and the Hatchback, two models one of the most popular cars on the road, AutoGuide decided to detail key differences between the two. One of the key differences between the two models is in the use of interior space. The Sedan comes with more legroom in the back, making it a much cozier ride for rear seat passengers than its Hatchback counterpart. However, what the Hatchback lacks in passenger room, it compensates in storage space. The new model comes with an available 25.7 cu-ft of space behind the rear seats, almost twice as much as the Sedan.
Another key difference is that the Hatchback comes exclusively with a turbocharged engine that puts out over 170 horsepower and comes in two sport trims. The Sport and Sport Touring models boast a subtle body kit and an increase in power from the rest of the Civic family. While the turbocharged engine is also available for the Sedan, drivers can opt to go with the more modest 158 horsepower 4-cylinder engine as well. While the 4-cylinder engine is available in every trim of the Sedan, the turbocharged engine is exclusive in the EX-T trim and above.
If you still aren’t sure which model is right for you, we encourage you to stop by our dealership to test drive both models. We have a full selection of both models and would be happy to assist you in finding your next car. Call us at 913-782-3636 to schedule a test drive today!
Honda is gearing up for a big showcase at the 2016 SEMA show with a custom Honda Ridgeline. The SEMA show is one of the top automotive trade shows in the world and takes place annually in Las Vegas, Nevada. At this show, different auto manufacturers will showcase educational seminars, product demonstrations and much more. The trade show is said to draw the industry’s brightest minds and hottest products, as over 60,000 people attended last year’s show.
The decision to showcase a custom Ridgeline at this year’s event was an easy choice, especially with all of the positive feedback the truck has been receiving since its launch a few months ago. Right out of the gate, Car and Driver fell in love with the spacious and comfortable interior, claiming it “embarrasses the competition.” Most recently, the pickup truck was recognized for its superior safety. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, or IIHS, recently shared a video, discussing tests performed on a series of trucks where the Ridgeline stood out. Overall, the IIHS has provided superior safety ratings for the truck that are well within Honda’s standards of excellence.
Unlike typical trucks, this vehicle is a great everyday mode of transportation that can provide consumers with a multitude of features that are not offered among competing brands, such as Ford and Chevrolet. These features include an in-bed storage compartment with a drain and dual-action tailgate that opens vertically and horizontally to allow for easy loading and finally weatherproof speakers in the bed making this vehicle ideal for tailgating.

It’s been nearly 50 years since the first Honda N600, nicknamed the Serial One and sporting a modest 0.6-liter two-cylinder engine, made its way across the ocean to the United States.
As the first Honda automobile imported for sale in the North America, the N600 helped launch a major market shift that saw small Japanese cars successfully challenge the hegemony of gas guzzlers from the ‘Big Three’ American manufacturers.
Today, the effort to restore that very first N600 is nearly finished. The restoration process, documented in a 12-part video series entitled, ‘Serial One,’ has taken well over a year to complete. After collecting dust in a junk pile for nearly 50 years, it’s safe to say this hidden gem has seen better days.
According to an interview with Tim Mings, the owner of the Serial One, the serial number one vehicle was acquired through a stroke of good luck. Tim Mings originally bought the car along with another older model without realizing that the Serial One was now in his possession. It was not until he began restoring the car that he realized he’d inadvertently purchased the historic vehicle. Honda is currently supporting Mings’ ongoing project to properly restore the Serial One, the Honda N600, to pristine condition.
Frank Ancona Honda President Michael Ancona shares Mings’ vision on preserving the history of Honda, saying:
“We love the history of the cars which is why we have an extensive collection of Historic Honda projects. We enjoy reminiscing on our history as we look forward to the future with new vehicles.”
In the years since the Serial One’s arrival on American shores, Honda has established itself as an international brand that will stand the test of time. To that point, Frank Ancona Honda is lucky enough to own an extensive showroom of classic Honda products like their 1971 Honda Z600 Coupe.
Stop by Frank Ancona Honda today to see this and other pieces of Honda history.
Honda has unveiled the new fifth-generation Honda CR-V, America’s best-selling SUV over the last two decades. The redesigned and reengineered CR-V will go on sale this winter and features bold new styling, a premium interior, and the model’s first-ever turbocharged engine. According to Honda, American car buyers have purchased nearly four million CR-Vs since its launch in the states in 1997. Since then, the CR-V has built a reputation with awards including:
The CR-V’s design has a much more aggressive attitude. The crisp and sharp front-end design is mixed with stylized headlights and muscular fenders for a more masculine looking SUV. According to Autoblog, the new body and chassis design provides more agile and confident handling, greater refinement, additional ground clearance and superior overall versatility.
The 2017 CR-V in EX and higher trims will feature CR-V’s first ever turbocharged engine along with a more powerful and fuel-efficient 1.5-liter DOHC, direct-injected and turbocharged 4-cylinder enginerated at 190 horsepower, delivering incredibly refined and responsive performance.. Combined with the CR-V’s more aerodynamic body, the new turbocharged engine aims to claim the highest EPA fuel economy ratings in the compact SUV class. CR-V LX trims will be powered by a 2.4-liter DOHC, direct-injected i-VTECÔ engine, and both will be mated to a smooth shifting and sporty continuously variable transmission.
This new generation raises the bar for interior refinement and premium features. The cabin continues to offer top-in-class interior space and the best rear seat legroom in its class. Some of the new comfort and convenience features available on this model include remote engine start, dual-zone climate controls, heated side mirrors, an Electric Parking Brake (EPB), rear USB charging ports, front passenger seat with 4-way power adjustment and driver’s seat with 8-way power adjustment and 4-way power lumbar support and heated front and rear outboard seats.

Honda is celebrating Second Annual National Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Dayearly with an incredible announcement. The 2017 Honda Fuel Cell Clarity will be released this winter. National Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Day on October 8 was initially created to help raise awareness of a clean energy technology that is currently available in today’s world. The date of the 8th is significant as 10/08 is the atomic weight of hydrogen (1.008).
Honda believes that hydrogen can play a critical role in addressing global climate change and accelerating progress towards a more sustainable, ultra low-carbon mobility future. The new 5-passenger, hydrogen-powered Clarity Fuel Cell sedan is expected to have the ability to traverse over 300 miles per fueling with a refueling time of approximately three to five minutes. Honda believes that the zero-emission Clarity will meet customer needs for performance, safety and advanced telematics all while addressing society’s environmental and energy concerns. The fuel cell stack within the car is said to be 33 percent more compact than previous models with a 60 percent increase in power compared to the Honda FCX Clarity. The compact fuel cell and integrated powertrain now fits entirely under the hood allowing for more spacious seating.
The new model will feature a low and wide aerodynamic body with clean lines while the interior showcases a refined experience using rich materials and intuitive controls. Like many new model Honda’s, customers will be able to enjoy additional features including the Honda Sensing™ suite of safety and driver assistive technologies, Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™. The Clarity Fuel Cell will be available in Crystal Black Pearl, White Orchid Pearl and signature Bordeaux Red Metallic exterior paint schemes. To stay up to date on additional information about the Honda Clarity Fuel Cell and all new Honda vehicles make sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
With the release of the Honda Civic Hatchback, the company also decided to unveil the next generation of the Civic Type R at the 2016 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. Honda says the new prototype’s body is based on the low and wide proportion of the new Civic Hatchback but has been enhanced with a more muscular style and modifications to increase aerodynamic performance. The exterior of the car is wrapped in a reflective, finely-grained brushed aluminum-effect finish that is unique to the car. The sporty red accent line adds to Honda’s iconic red “H” badge that adorns all Type R models.
The carbon fiber side skirts run the length of the car between 20-inch piano black alloy wheels with red accents. A small diameter central tailpipe is highlighted in bright metallic red. This generation of the Civic Type R was developed by Honda R&D teams from Europe and Japan and manufactured exclusively at the Honda of the UK Manufacturing plant.
As of now Honda hasn’t released specs for the power or performance of the new model but we can expect that it’s comparable to the previous generation. According to Autoweek, the 2015 model tops out at an impressive 167 mph from its 2.0 i-VTEC Turbo Engine. These impressive stats earned this model of the civic the title of Most Popular Performance Car at the 2016 Honest John Awards.
The HR-V will be available in three trims, the LX, EX and EX-L. The 2017 model will be powered by a refined and efficient 1.8-liter 4-cylinder 16 valve DOHC i-VTEC® engine producing a peak 141 horsepower. Paired with the engine is one of two efficient and responsive Honda transmissions: A seamless and sporty continuously variable transmission (CVT), available on all models, or an engaging 6-speed manual transmission, available on LX and EX models with 2WD.
The crossover will come standard with 17-inch alloy wheels, a push button electric parking brake with Automatic Brake Hold, a rearview camera with guidelines, Pandora® radio and Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink®, the 2017 HR-V also adds a sophisticated new color – Lunar Silver metallic – to its palette, replacing Alabaster Silver.
Frank Ancona Honda has already ordered the incredible crossover SUV. Look for it to arrive to our dealership later this fall. For added luxury, customers will want to ask for the EX and EX-L models that will come standard with a push starter and the incredible Honda LaneWatch™ system. Just signal right and a small camera displays live video on your Display Audio screen to reveal nearly four times more than the passenger-side mirror alone.
The Honda HR-V made a comeback in a big way in 2016. After a halt in 2006, the second generation HR-V started production again in 2014 and Honda’s latest model is earning rave reviews. It’s hard to find a knock against the new HR-V. This versatile crossover is easy to drive, handles nicely and has a size that fits seemingly anywhere.
The HR-V certainly has the specs to back-up its accolades. With three different options to choose from, the LX, EX and EX-L Navi, there’s a model that’s a perfect fit for everyone. The vehicle comes standard with Bluetooth connectivity, USB audio interface, 5-inch color LCD screen (7-inch with EX & EX-L), multi-angle rearview camera, 2nd row magic seat, remote entry and a 141-hp, 1.8-liter, 16-Valve, SOHC i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine.
When it comes to competitors, the HR-V “thoroughly trounces” them, according to Edmunds. The estimated 31 MPG is quite impressive for a SUV. Combine the MPG with spacious seating and well-mannered handling and it’s no surprise the HR-V is “trouncing” the competition!
The journey of the CR-V started more than 20 years ago when the car was first released. The new model stands completely apart of its earlier iterations, ditching the boxy edges for a curvier finish that resembles the rest of the Honda family.
With fall and winter just around the corner we can expect a lot more inclement weather. You want to feel safe and secure knowing that nothing in the road will stand in your way. A review in Car and Driver calls the 2016 Honda CR-Vboth versatile and reliable while being no stranger to luxury.
This means that regardless of the weather outside you will be riding in style. The vehicle comes standard with Bluetooth connectivity, USB Audio Interface, Multi-Angle Rearview Camera with Guidelines and a 185-hp, 2.4-Liter, 16-Valve, DOHC i-VTEC 4-Cylinder Engine (LX model).
Four additional models of Honda’s CR-V offer even more luxurious features, giving you comfort and convenience. The Touring model even comes with the incredible Honda Sensing Package and Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System.
Over the past few years the Honda CR-V has received several notable accolades including:
The Honda CR-V boasts an impressive 33/26 Hwy/City MPG rating while comfortably transporting five people. You’ll find plenty of power, fuel economy and luxury features in this surprisingly affordable vehicle. Stop by to test drive the incredible Honda CR-V at Frank Ancona Honda. We’re here to answer all your questions and will work with you to find your next car!
Boasting an amazing 36/29 Hwy/City MPG rating, the traditional, five-door hatchback is available in three different trim levels: LX, EX and the EX-L. The Fit comes standard with automatic headlights, Bluetooth and a center console with storage. Different trims levels will offer features such as a power moonroof, a 7.0-inch touchscreen display audio system and heated leather seats. Also new for 2017 is the addition of Alabaster Silver Metallic to the exterior color options.
What really sets the Fit apart from other compact hatchbacks is the amount of interior space it boasts. According to Honda, the vehicle offers class-leading passenger space and versatility courtesy of its center-mounted fuel tank and their “Magic Seat.” In fact, Honda states that the Fit offers nearly four more inches of legroom to passengers in the rear of the car. Instead of being limited in storage space, the Fit has the storage capacity of a larger SUV due to the folding ability of the seats. Car and Driver even called the original model a “diminutive road warrior with Great-Pumpkin interior volume.” How often can that be said about a compact hatchback? Not very often and the Fit owns that extra space!
To test drive one of these incredible and sporty vehicles, we encourage you to stop by our Olathe dealership. Don’t wait too long, now is the perfect time to buy with our Summer Clearance Event in full swing.
In order to help showcase the incredible 2017 Honda Ridgeline, Frank Ancona Honda is providing another contest for our followers. Starting Monday, August 15, 2016 through October 15, 2016, contestants will be able to enter our contest by simply heading over to our Facebook page and liking and commenting on the contest post with who you would go on a date with for an evening. Winners receive dinner and transportation on us for their date night!
Once per month a single winner will be selected. Each winner will be provided a 24-hour test drive of one of our incredible 2017 Honda Ridgeline trucks to use as transportation as they go to the restaurant Rosso, located at the top of the Sorella Hotel at the Country Club Plaza. Frank Ancona Honda will pay for dinner for two with an allowance of up to $200.
The Honda Ridgeline was chosen as the date night vehicle due to its styling as a truck that is perfect for everyone, even those that do not work construction or use the hauling feature often. Car and Driver had a lot of positive notes about the vehicle including the vehicle’s new form. The truck’s structure is the same as the Honda Pilot crossover. From the front the truck looks identical to the Pilot that just had the last row of seats opened up and removed. According to a report to Car and Driver, the front structure is actually 17 percent stronger than that of the Pilot, while the rear is 31 percent sturdier. While the truck actually has a lower hauling capacity when compared to other trucks this vehicle is targeted to customers to be an everyday kind of truck that is less clumsy.
Recently, there has been a growing trend with the use of the mobile application Pokemon Go, created by Niantic, Inc. People of all ages have been consumed by the game with its cute creatures as they hunt to “catch them all.” While the game itself seems harmless enough, we are beginning to see the growing dangers of playing it. Reports have come in of users being so occupied with their phones that they are not paying attention to their surroundings and are getting into troublesome situations. To take it even further, users are starting to play the game while they drive. CNN has even mentioned several accidents that have occurred due to drivers being distracted by playing the app while driving. As August is back to school safety month, Frank Ancona wants to remind people to never text while driving, or in this case, play Pokemon Go while driving. Distracted driving is an epidemic that we can fight. The Tennessee Department of Safety & Homeland Security has even started a new hashtag and campaign to promote safety first, #PikachuCanWait.
If you want to utilize a car to play Pokemon Go, there are many people that are embracing the game. Many people and Uber drivers have begun offering their services to Pokemon Go players for an hourly fee. For this fee, drivers will take the players around to different pokestops and gyms. Uber actually warned their drivers and partners of the game, including the possibility of distracted drivers and individuals on or near the road, as well as the possibility of making money. They encouraged drivers to learn the hotspots and wait near them for fares.
If you are in the market for a new or preowned vehicle then we encourage you to come into the dealership. You can even check out our pokestop and use it while you browse our selection. All we ask is that you not play while you test drive one of our great vehicles!
The division of Honda that focuses primarily on two-wheeled vehicles has started to reveal their 2017 models. They began the releases with an updated version of the popular Grom. The new model has received a comprehensive redesign that includes a sharper and more aggressive appearance, according to Honda.
According to Lee Edmunds, manager of motorcycle marketing communications at American Honda, the motorcycle has been a huge success since its introduction in 2016. He goes on to state, “This fun-loving motorcycle has been a big hit in a little package, single handedly establishing a thriving market for small-wheeled, small-displacement, big-personality road bikes that lend themselves to personalization.”
Sportrider notes that the Grom itself is seen as part minibike, but all motorcycle and manageable for full-sized adults. The new version is essentially just a cosmetic upgrade with an edgier appearance. This new appearance is due partly to an integrated fuel tank and side panels, modern stocked LED headlight layout, a sportier handlebar and many other features that help transition the bike as a great bike to zip around the city.
Tim Mings, the mechanic famous for his knowledge of classic Honda vehicles, continues to work hard on restoring the classic Serial One. Honda has announced that Mings has nearly completed restoring the engine of the vehicle. According to Digital Trends, the car being restored is the first Honda vehicle sold in the United States and is one of 50 N600s imported to the U.S. during the car’s first year on the market. The most recent video shows Mings attempting to remove the flywheel of the car. Interestingly enough, he doesn’t have the right type of tool on hand due to the fact that the flywheel used in the first 50 models were different then the later production models.
On the Honda Serial One website, Honda provides additional information and explains the history of the car. According to Honda, most cars had high emissions in 1969 and were not even close to being fuel-efficient. The N600 fought to change this perception as it was nearly 3 feet shorter than most cars on the road in America and weighed nearly half of what the best-selling car at the time did. As Mings states in a video located on The News Wheel, “It’s interesting to see when Honda changed things. They always changed it for a reason. They always made it better, that’s just what they do.”
Frank Ancona shares Tim’s sentiments about Honda, “We love the history of the cars which is why we have an extensive collection of Historic Honda projects. We enjoy reminiscing on our history as we look forward to the future with new vehicles.” If you would like to see our collection or test drive one of our new vehicles, please stop by our dealership and we would be happy to help you.

Every year, the vehicle industry competes for a unique award at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. These awards are some of the most sought after, because as the Detroit Free Press notes, unlike awards given by a single publication, they are chosen by an independent jury of automotive journalists from the United States and Canada. This year, the Honda Civic won the title of North American Car of the Year.
In order to win, vehicles must be new or substantially changed from previous models. According to the North American International Auto Show website, jurors examine innovation, design, safety, handling, driver satisfaction and value for the dollar when they tally up scores for each car entered into the competition. At the time of the award, Honda car sales overall rose by 13.3 percent while the Civic itself gained 29.4 percent.
If all of this doesn’t sell you on the Honda Civic, take a look at all the other accolades the 2016 model has won:
According to the team at AutoGuide, the new Civic impressed the editors with its upscale style and its new engine. They also said that the 2016 model “breathes life back into the storied nameplate” of the Honda Civic.

What could be more fun than bowling or hitting a pinata? How about hitting a giant pinata or knocking over giant bowling pins while driving the sporty all-new 2016 Honda Civic coupe? Utilizing social media, Honda crowdsourced ideas to build a new test track, the Civic Dream Track, to showcase the handling of the 2016 Honda Civic coupe. This first of its kind course incorporated many interesting and fun ideas.
The course was driven by professional stunt driver, Matt Powers. Outside of adding a stick to hit the pinata and various cameras, the Honda Civic used in the video was not modified, which allowed the car’s natural abilities to shine through. You can view the video of the car driving the course here.
According to Car and Driver, the newly redesigned Civic coupe boasts a sporty edge, from added sculpting to its body to the way its wheels and tires fully occupy the wheel wells. But it goes beyond its appearance. The engine in the new, agile coupe gives it a performance boost over previous generations. The base model comes with 158 horsepower while the higher end models come with 174 horsepower. This is a large boost from the previous generations, which only came with horsepower in the 140s.
Interested in owning or leasing your own 2016 Civic coupe to take on any pinatas or bowling pins you may come across on the road? You can view our current inventory of 2016s online by clicking here or come in today to test drive one of these sporty redesigned Civics. Interested in leasing? The minivan segment isn’t nearly as congested as it used to be thanks to the rise of crossover vehicles. In their wake, the minivans that remain tend to be more luxurious, utility-driven, and spacious for families. Safety is a major priority and automakers don’t skimp on features. When comparing the 2016 Honda Odyssey to the 2016 Toyota Sienna, the top two minivans on the market, the Odyssey comes out on top.
In terms of styling, the Honda Odyssey shines. Its rear roofline spoiler and aerodynamic design boast a look similar to a crossover that offers more interior space. On the inside, the Odyssey’s technology blows the Sienna out of the water. The Odyssey comes standard with an 8-inch display screen, while the Sienna’s standard display screen is only 6.1-inches. Honda’s minivan also offers an available built-in vacuum system, the HondaVac, making cleaning up kids’ messes easy. The Sienna can’t compete with that.
Seating is plentiful in both the Honda Odyssey and Toyota Sienna, but the Odyssey’s seating offers much more flexibility. Aside from the base model, the Odyssey can seat up to eight people, so Honda created a second row center seat that can easily be removed to create a pass-through to the back. While this center seat is in use, it can also easily be moved forward independently from the second row. To create more shoulder room for second row passengers while the center seat is installed, the outer seats can be moved 1.5 inches to the side. No one will be complaining about tight quarters while riding in the Odyssey!
Honda scores another win when it comes to fuel efficiency. The 2016 Honda Odyssey gets an EPA-estimated mileage of 19 mpg in the city and 28 on the highway, while the Sienna gets 18 mpg in the city and 25 on the highway.
Now you can see why the 2016 Honda Odyssey is the better minivan. For more information, stop by Frank Ancona Honda or call 913-782-3636. We’ll help you find the perfect vehicle for you and your family.
This year has been full of excitement for Honda with newly redesigned vehicles which feature flashy styling, great fuel economy, innovative tech, impressive safety ratings and so much more. Included in these is the release of the 2017 Honda Ridgeline, the newly redesigned Honda Civic, and the new and improved Honda Accord, which is now in its 40th year.
The Honda Accord, America’s best-selling midsize sedan, welcomes the re-styled and re-engineered 2017 Accord Hybrid to the family. According to Honda, the car is America’s most powerful and fuel-efficient midsize hybrid sedan. The car features an advanced, new, second-generation two motor hybrid powertrain that peaks out at 212 horsepower and best-in-class EPA fuel economy ratings of 49/47/48 mpg (city/highway/combined).
Like the rest of Accord family, the 2017 hybrid model has had extensive upgrades made to it that include a new sportier style and driving performance. According to Edmunds, the car will feature three unique trims, the Hybrid, Hybrid EX-L and the Hybrid Touring. All three trim levels will include the Honda Sensing™ suite of advanced safety and driver-assistive technologies, offered as standard equipment on all models, and for EX-L and Touring trims, Honda’s newest Display Audio touchscreen interface featuring Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ compatibility.
Jeff Conrad, senior vice president and general manager of Honda Division, American Honda Motor Co., Inc says, “The Accord Hybrid is the ultimate Accord, offering exceptional dynamic qualities with the greatest technological sophistication and fuel efficiency in the Accord Family.”
The Honda Accord has been setting the standard for family sedans and comes recommended by Edmunds. If you want to upgrade your vehicle, then it’s time to come into Frank Ancona Honda. We have a great selection of new vehicles and great deals to help you drive off the lot in the perfect Honda for you. Stop by today or call us at (913) 782-3636.
The battle between trucks has been focused too long on Ford and Chevrolet. Frank Ancona Honda is here to tell you there’s a stylish newcomer to the fight that has a lot to offer. The 2017 Honda Ridgeline is driving out of the shadows to show off its many impressive features.
The Ridgeline boasts an enormous and comfortable interior that, according to Car and Driver, “embarrasses the competition.” There is also a great deal of hidden storage underneath the back passenger seats with enough room to store a set of golf clubs.
The exterior of the truck also comes standard with quality features. The bed of the truck is made with a composite material, as opposed to the steel and aluminum beds that you see in competitors. Recently, Chevrolet and Ford have been posting videos to show off the durability, or lack thereof, of the beds in their trucks. Honda jumped in the fray by posting a video of their own that shows the Ridgeline can handle just as much while showing hardly any damage at all.
The Ridgeline isn’t just a vehicle for the stereotypical truck owner; it’s also a great everyday mode of transportation. The bed of the truck includes a storage compartment with a drain that would be perfect as a cooler for the sports fan who loves to tailgate. The dual-action tailgate opens vertically and horizontally to allow for easy loading. With all the strength of a classic truck and many unique additional features, the 2017 Honda Ridgeline is staking its claim in the battle for most impressive truck.

This year marks the 15th anniversary of the tour and promises to be one of the best years yet.

Memorial Day weekend was filled with excitement and adventure, especially for Frank Ancona Honda President Michael Ancona, who attended the Indy 500 in the Honda Suite box. Ancona was able to witness not only an incredible race, but also a big win for the Honda Racing Team.
Alexander Rossi, a rookie, stretched his tank of gas 36 laps compared to the average 32 laps per tank that most drivers are able to make. According to Sports Illustrated, Rossi has spent the majority of his career racing on road and street courses that require the drivers to make left and right turns. The skillset for an oval track, such as the one in Indianapolis, requires a different set of skills. In only the second oval of his career, Rossi won at what is considered the most challenging and dangerous race track in the world. He is the first rookie to win at the Indy 500 since Helio Castroneves in 2001. Rossi was followed by his teammate Carlos Munoz, who finished second almost four and a half seconds behind Rossi.
Marco Andretti, the grandson of racing legend Mario Andretti, finished behind his teammates at Andretti Autosport in 13th. In a tweet, Andretti attributed his placement in the race to his tires saying, “Fun day until the front tires were put on the wrong side. Really bummed, the car was good. Unfortunate mistake but my guys are the best.” Andretti was later quoted at the celebration saying, “It was an honor to … even qualify for the 100th Running.”
Before the race, Ancona enjoyed a full tour of the pit, as well as the opportunity to meet current and former drivers such as Sarah Fisher. Fisher is a former IndyCar racer and the youngest woman ever to qualify for the Indianapolis 500 at 19 years old. Experiences like this make us proud to represent Honda.
The Honda Accord and Toyota Camry have long-been two of the most beloved mid-sized cars on the road. But did you know the Honda Accord blows the Toyota Camry out of the water in multiple areas? Whether you’re comparing fuel efficiency, safety, comfort or even residual value, the 2016 Honda Accord vastly outperforms the 2016 Toyota Camry.
In terms of fuel economy, in optimal conditions the Camry will see a combined fuel economy of 28 mpg while the Honda Accord achieves up to a combined 31 mpg. It may not seem like much of a difference at first, but your wallet will feel the difference at the pump.
Additionally, the newest model year Honda Accord proudly boasts a 41 percent residual value, according to ALG, while the Camry residual value is only rated at 33 percent. Once those 60 months pass, there is a clear residual value winner.
Our latest models have everyone talking. Honda stole the show this year with high ratings from Kelley Blue Book, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, just to name a few. Value and safety awards make up a large portion of Honda’s achievements this year.
Kelley Blue Book’s KBB.com named several 2016 Honda Models with Overall Best Buy, Best Buy, Best Value Brand and Best Resale Value Awards. We’re proud to announce that the 2016 Honda Civic is the Overall Best Buy according to Kelley Blue Book’s KBB.com, along with the 2016 Honda CR-V, Pilot and Odyssey, which were named Best Buy of the Year in their respective classes.
Additional awards include U.S. News naming the CR-V the Best Car for the Money among compact SUVs. The Honda Fit also was also recognized by U.S. News rankings and was awarded the Best Car for the Money title in the Subcompact and Hatchback categories. Both the CR-V and Fit were commended for their high EPA-estimated mpg ratings and low long-term ownership costs.

Although getting the best value for your money is important, by no means should it cast a shadow on safety. Don’t worry, Honda has you covered in both areas! The coveted 2016 TOP SAFETY PICK+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) was awarded to four Hondas in recognition of their superior crash safety performance. Several 2016 Honda models were also recognized by IIHS with the esteemed TOP SAFETY PICK rating due to their excellent safety performance and still more earned top marks with a 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

In a press release from Honda, Jeff Conrad, senior vice president and general manager of the Honda Division, said, “Consumers have made the CR-V America’s best-selling SUV for good reason, and this top government safety rating just adds one more appealing and class-leading attribute. Honda is committed to offering vehicles that deliver advanced safety, fun-to-drive performance and connectivity, with top fuel economy ratings. The CR-V is that kind of vehicle.”
Earlier last year the 2016 Honda CR-V also earned a top safety pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), making it a collision safety leader and a standout choice in the SUV market. It was also named Kelley Blue Book’s best small SUV buy of 2016 and one of the 15 best family cars of 2015.
The CR-V was the first Honda vehicle to offer the Honda Sensing suite of safety and driver assisted technologies. Honda Sensing is now available for the Civic, Accord, CR-V and Pilot. The new suite of driver-assisted technologies can help you sense things you might miss while driving. The suite includes:
Forward Collision Warning: FCW uses a small camera mounted at the top of the front windshield to detect the presence of vehicles in front of you. If it determines that you are at risk for a collision with a detected vehicle, it activates audio and visual alerts to warn you. If you fail to act on the warnings, the Collision Mitigation Braking System kicks in.
Collision Mitigation Braking System: By utilizing a wave radar sensor, the CMBS can help bring your Honda to a stop when the system determines that a collision with a vehicle in front of you is unavoidable. A warning sounds and then, if necessary, brake pressure is automatically applied.
Lane Keeping Assist System: Helps you stay in your lane by automatically adjusting the steering wheel if you begin to leave the center of a detected lane.
Lane Departure Warning: Alerts you if you drift out of a detected lane without using your turn signal.
What’s new in the 2016 Honda CR-V?*
Other than improvements to the Honda Sensing suite technologies, the 2016 Honda CR-V has received other new technology features including:
Power Tailgate: With the press of a button, the new CR-V can automatically lower or raise the trunk tailgate for easier hands-free access.
One-Touch Power Moonroof: With one touch of the button, you’ll be stargazing in no time.
Push Button Start: Now starting your CR-V is literally as easy as pressing a button.
Multi-Angle Rearview Camera: Get a better view of what’s behind you with three different viewing angles: normal, top-down and wide.
Available Real Time All Wheel Drive: It can sense when traction is lost and automatically transfer power to the rear wheels to help you grip the road and stay on course.
The above features, combined with the improved Honda Sensing suite, make the 2016 Honda CR-V one of the safest SUVs out on the market. Stop in for a test drive today or call (855) 859-6511.

Honda will unveil the all-new 2017 Ridgeline pickup at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit on January 11, 2016, replacing the award-winning first-generation Ridgeline that has been on the market since 2005.
According to Honda’s website, when the Ridgeline was introduced, it redefined pickups by blurring the lines between full size versatility and compact practicality. The new 2017 model will further improve on the space, comfort and utility that made the original model one of the most forward-thinking vehicles in its class.
Following the 2017 Ridgeline’s world debut at the Detroit Auto Show, the all-new model will make its television debut during a 60-second TV spot during the 3rd quarter of Super Bowl 50.
In a Honda press release, Jeff Conrad, senior vice president and general manager of the Honda Automobile Division, said, “The big game is the largest and most coveted stage to show the truck. Super Bowl 50 is the right time and the right venue to communicate Honda’s continued leadership in light trucks. The multi-platform approach will enable Ridgeline to come out of the gate strong in 2016.”
The new 2017 Ridgeline is set to launch at Honda dealerships nationwide within the first half of 2016, joining Honda’s expanded lineup of innovative light truck models, including the HR-V crossover, the CR-V, Pilot and the Odyssey minivan.
In an article posted on Autoweek, Conrad said, “We developed this new Honda Ridgeline to offer something new and fundamentally better suited to the way many buyers use their truck. Ridgeline will deliver everything you’d expect in a Honda from incredible packaging and fuel-efficiency to top safety technologies and innovative, segment-first features. We’re honored to once again debut the Ridgeline in Detroit at the North American International Auto Show.”

Thank you David Day, editor and chief of Thinking Bigger Business Magazine, for publishing the article Frank Ancona Honda wrote regarding hybrids for small businesses. I really appreciate your support in getting the word out about greening the environment!
Here is the article — ECO-NOMICS OF GOING GREEN
by Jason Heard, sales manager at Frank Ancona Honda
Many companies are looking for ways to be more sustainable and save money. As gas prices climb, now is a great time for small businesses to consider eco-friendly hybrid vehicles.
According to livestrong.com, driving a hybrid can save up to 50 percent of the cost of a standard car, a potential savings of nearly $1,000 a year. There also is a lot less wear on the engine, as the car switches between motors and the one resting can cool down. Both in fuel and maintenance costs, buying hybrids can lower the economic impact of your company’s vehicle costs.
Fleets of Hybrids
Hybrids are a clear choice when it comes to fuel conservation. Hybrid cars have both an engine and an electric motor, which conserve fuel. Hybrids cut fuel usage by more than half, while producing lower levels of toxic exhaust fumes. A recent Kelly Blue Book survey found that 35 percent of buyers have changed their minds about the vehicle they would buy because of gas prices. And, 15 percent of people said they are looking to buy a new car to save money on gas.
Hybrids aren’t just the right choice for individual buyers. Businesses can gain the same benefits when buying company vehicles. A study conducted in September 2010 by Pike Research confirmed that fleet operators are finding that hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) can help cut fuel costs and meet emissions-reduction targets.
The United States is expected to be the largest fleet market for light-duty HEVs through 2015, with vehicle sales of 233,454 vehicles, an 8.1 percent compound annual growth rate from 2010. Global HEV fleet sales will reach 740,704 vehicles in 2015, representing nearly 4 percent of global LD vehicle sales.
A key finding by Pike Research shows that commercial and government fleet managers can improve fuel economy between five percent and 40 percent, as well as lower emissions 10 percent to 50 percent below comparable vehicles with internal combustion engines.
Types of Hybrids
Before choosing a hybrid for your small business, be knowledgeable about the different types:
Full hybrids can run on either just the gasoline engine or just the electric motor, but also can run on a combination of both.
Assist hybrids also are called power hybrids and cannot run on the electric motor alone.
Mild hybrids have starter motors that allow drivers to turn off the engine to save gas.
No matter the type of hybrid, one thing is certain: there is always savings.
The average driver saves $3,750 per year by buying a hybrid, and the average fuel efficiency of new vehicles by 2020 will be 40 MPG. Companies with multiple vehicles would see their savings multiply—along with the environmental impact—with each hybrid in service.
When it’s time to replace your company vehicles, consider whether a hybrid is the right choice for the environment and for your bottom line.

In a recent interview that we posted on a community forum, several Honda owners responded to our post: “If you are a happy Honda owner, please help us celebrate our 50th Anniversary by submitting your best Honda story in 200 words or less. The best stories will be featured on our blog and other social networking sites.”
Here are some of the responses-
Happy Honda Family of 7!
I drive a Honda Odyssey and my husband drives a Honda Pilot. We have 5 children and will only drive a Honda! Honda’s are known for safety, sleek looks and will hold our big happy family! My last car was an Odyssey too and before children I drove a Honda Civic. We are a Happy Honda Family! Before I had children I said I would never drive a minivan but now that I drive an Odyssey I want no other vehicle to transport my growing family! I’m glad my Odyssey seats 8 people too so we have room in case we ever have another addition to our growing family! Honda’s are comfortable too and Honda has thought of everything! I love the sunroof in my minivan! How cool is that, that I get to drive a minivan that has a sunroof!
When “best” isn’t always happy
I’ll readily admit I’m obsessed with my 2009 purple Honda Fit. She has an identity – clearly, a gender, too – and a name: Aubergine, which means “eggplant” in French. So I’m sure you can imagine how distraught I was to receive a 4:30 a.m. call from the local police last year, telling me I had to leave the security and stress-free shelter of my apartment. Aubergine had been “de-tired” – her alloy wheels and tires removed – and dropped onto two milk crates, one under each side between the front and back doors. The month that followed was replete with insurance headaches, repair shop ineptitudes and all the while, my husband and I were searching for our first home. No one had cautioned me about the importance of wheel locks, so I readily share this story – as well as the photos from that fateful morning, still saved on my BlackBerry – to Fit owners and others who adore their small cars. Aubergine celebrated the one-year anniversary of her de-tiring safe in her half of our two-car garage – and hopefully she’ll never been vandalized again!

Here is an article from Auto Evolution, written by Daniel Patrascu, announcing that the Honda Odyssey has recently been named the safest minivan for 2011 by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), and the National Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
As a testimony to the way in which Honda’s new Odyssey minivan has been designed, two of America’s most renowned safety organizations, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the National Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) have both given the model their highest scores in the crash test conducted this year. The achievement, in the case of other models not surprising, comes to establish the Odyssey as the first and single minivan to have achieved top scores from both organizations this year.
Both of the organizations crash tested the Odyssey in the beginning of the year, but only now the Japanese car maker can safely say that their vehicle is the best in its class as far as the safety of the occupants go.
The new Odyssey, launched last year, is Honda’s take on a segment that, because of the competition, is growing harder and harder to control. Several important players fight for a piece of the market that stands for a whole lot more in the US than in Europe.
Honda’s Odyssey, seen by the manufacturer who produces it as one of the most successful minivans it has ever made, is trying to build on the all-American appeal by being designed and engineered in the US and assembled at the Honda Manufacturing of Alabama (HMA) plant, using mostly domestic parts.
For the new model year, Honda has tweaked the model a bit, adding little extras like a more powerful 3.5l i-VTEC V6 engine (248 hp), a new 3-mode second-row seat design or a rear entertainment system with a 16.2-inch ultrawide split-screen display.
