The New York Auto Show was full of many exciting vehicles, but Honda surprised everyone by unveiling the 10th generation Honda Civic Coupe. The car caught immediate attention with the bright lime green color, but people were even more amazed by the rest of the upgrades for the new generation Civic.
This year seems to be the year of the competitive sports coupe and Honda is stepping into the ring. The Honda Civic shows that the brand is ready to do battle to create a sensible sporty vehicle. NY Daily News reports that the engine is a 1.5 liter 4 cylinder with 6 speed manual gearbox and the new standard for Honda – a continuously variable transmission (CVT). The estimates for horsepower range in the 200 mark while still offering the excellent fuel economy Honda is known for.
The frame of the vehicle also received an upgrade. The wheelbase is longer to get rid of the overhang on the front wheels. The Civic is also lower and wider than previous models, according to J.D. Power. To make the Civic look a little more athletic, Honda stretched the hood, shortened the rear deck and brought back the hatchback style. They are calling the styling on the new Civic a Flying H design.
The best part about this reveal of the next generation Honda Civic at the New York Auto Show is the sporty design and the Civic Type-R model are coming to America! The sporty Civics have a history of being Europe-only, but 2016 models are going to make their way to American showrooms, including Frank Ancona Honda!
