Back to School Safety Month Archives - Frank Ancona Honda blog
August 5, 2016
Recently, there has been a growing trend with the use of the mobile application Pokemon Go, created by Niantic, Inc. People of all ages have been consumed by the game with its cute creatures as they hunt to “catch them all.” While the game itself seems harmless enough, we are beginning to see the growing dangers of playing it. Reports have come in of users being so occupied with their phones that they are not paying attention to their surroundings and are getting into troublesome situations. To take it even further, users are starting to play the game while they drive. CNN has even mentioned several accidents that have occurred due to drivers being distracted by playing the app while driving. As August is back to school safety month, Frank Ancona wants to remind people to never text while driving, or in this case, play Pokemon Go while driving. Distracted driving is an epidemic that we can fight. The Tennessee Department of Safety & Homeland Security has even started a new hashtag and campaign to promote safety first, #PikachuCanWait.
If you want to utilize a car to play Pokemon Go, there are many people that are embracing the game. Many people and Uber drivers have begun offering their services to Pokemon Go players for an hourly fee. For this fee, drivers will take the players around to different pokestops and gyms. Uber actually warned their drivers and partners of the game, including the possibility of distracted drivers and individuals on or near the road, as well as the possibility of making money. They encouraged drivers to learn the hotspots and wait near them for fares.
If you are in the market for a new or preowned vehicle then we encourage you to come into the dealership. You can even check out our pokestop and use it while you browse our selection. All we ask is that you not play while you test drive one of our great vehicles!
