The awards keep stacking up for Honda. Frank Ancona Honda is proud to announce that six Honda models were ranked as Kelley Blue Book’s Best Family Cars of 2016, claiming six of the 16 available spots. Honda is the only automaker to earn awards in each category segment, making it the most recognized brand in Kelley Blue Book’s assessment for 2016. The 2016 Honda Accord, Civic, HR-V, CR-V, Pilot and Odyssey were all highlighted in their respective categories.
Kelley Blue Book created the Best Family Cars list as a resource to make picking the right family vehicle a little less daunting. The KBB staff put all vehicle contenders through extensive tests evaluating overall family comfort, safety and value.
In a Honda press release, Jeff Conrad, senior vice president and general manager of sales of the Honda Division, said, “This recognition by the experts at Kelley Blue Book of six of our core models is affirmation that Honda has the best possible choices for families of any size.”
Honda has been dominating the award season this year. The 2016 Honda HR-V was named 2016 Green SUV of the Year. The 2016 Honda Civic was named Kelley Blue Book’s Overall Best Buy for 2016, as well as the 2016 North American International Car of the Year. Plus, earlier this month, five Honda models were honored as the 2016 Best Cars for the Money by U.S. News & World Report.

According to the U.S. News website, the 2016 Best Cars for the Money awards highlight the cars, trucks, SUVs and minivans that have the best combination of value and positive reviews from professional car reviewers in 23 different automotive classes. The Hondas that were honored are as follows:
- 2016 Honda Civic named “Best Compact Car for the Money”

According to the Honda press release, the rankings are updated monthly and compare cars on the basis of safety, reliability and a consensus of industry experts’ opinions.

The 2016 Honda HR-V was just named Green Car Journal’s 2016 Green SUV of the Year! The new model brings true environmental performance to the fast-growing, small SUV industry, delivering an estimated 35 mpg on the highway.
In a Honda press release, John Mendel, executive vice president of Auto Sales for American Honda, said, “The Honda HR-V is a truly unique new subcompact crossover, delivering the space, utility, comfort and feature content of a larger vehicle, with the sporty dynamics and class-leading fuel economy ratings on par with a small car. All of us at Honda truly appreciate Green Car Journal for recognizing the HR-V as the Green SUV of the Year and as the latest in a growing lineup of products with class-leading efficiency and low emissions.”
The 2016 Honda HR-V joins the 2012 Civic Natural Gas and 2014 Accord as the third Honda branded vehicle to be honored by Green Car Journal within the past five years. The Green Car Journal has been focused on the combination of automobiles, energy and the environment since its creation in 1992. The magazine aims to educate customers on better and more environmentally positive vehicle choices.
Honda’s new HR-V model comes equipped with an all-new continuously variable transmission (CVT) that delivers both fuel efficiency and fun-to-drive performance, in addition to being an Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle. Here’s a look at some of the other new features:
- Heated side mirrors: These mirrors help reduce fog and ice buildup.
- Roof rails: Make traveling easier by using the roof rails to haul everything from bikes to suitcases.
- Versatile cargo space: Equipped with up to 58.8-cubic-feet of cargo space for whatever you need to haul. You can fold down the passenger-side front and rear seats to fit cargo up to eight feet long.
- Loaded with luxury: Offers the comfort of an SUV with plenty of legroom, plus a leather-trimmed interior with heated front seats.
- Honda LaneWatch: When you hit your right turn signal, your middle console will display live video from a camera on your passenger-side mirror, making it easier for you to switch lanes and see out of that pesky blind spot.
Following the HR-V’s success, Honda plans to offer several next-generation, advanced powertrain vehicles over the next five years, including the launch of the Honda Clarity Fuel Cell later this year and an all-new Honda plug-in hybrid model by 2018.
