Honda Nearly Beats Yearly Sales Record; Sets Up Good Pace For 2015

January 9, 2015

Honda is one of the top selling brands in America, and several of its cars are consistently on top of their class for best-selling models in the country. So it shouldn’t come as a shock when Honda brings in the big numbers. What is shocking, though, is just how close Honda came to breaking a yearly sales record in 2014. With that kind of steam going into the New Year, there’s no telling what heights Honda will reach in 2015.

According to the Dayton Daily News, Honda sold over 1.5 million vehicles in 2014, which was a one percent increase over sales in 2013. The 1.5 million sales mark is the second highest sales year in Honda history, barely under numbers sold in 2007. Acura also had its second best year of all time behind 2007 with sales of nearly 168 thousand vehicles. But the banner number came from Honda’s light truck sales with over 700 thousand sold, a complete destruction of the previous yearly record. These numbers are good news for an auto industry as a whole that saw a near collapse during the recession a few years ago.

Honda recently completed its annual Happy Honda Days campaign and has new models and vehicles debuting later in the year, which will help to continue to bolster sales. Industry leaders told the Dayton Daily News they expect vehicle sales to continue to rise in 2015 with more cars sold than in 2014, but they also predict a decline in auto sales in the next few years. Until that happens, Honda will continue riding high on its sales numbers and continue to provide Americans with the quality and service they have come to expect from Honda.
