Honda is celebrating Second Annual National Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Dayearly with an incredible announcement. The 2017 Honda Fuel Cell Clarity will be released this winter. National Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Day on October 8 was initially created to help raise awareness of a clean energy technology that is currently available in today’s world. The date of the 8th is significant as 10/08 is the atomic weight of hydrogen (1.008).
Honda believes that hydrogen can play a critical role in addressing global climate change and accelerating progress towards a more sustainable, ultra low-carbon mobility future. The new 5-passenger, hydrogen-powered Clarity Fuel Cell sedan is expected to have the ability to traverse over 300 miles per fueling with a refueling time of approximately three to five minutes. Honda believes that the zero-emission Clarity will meet customer needs for performance, safety and advanced telematics all while addressing society’s environmental and energy concerns. The fuel cell stack within the car is said to be 33 percent more compact than previous models with a 60 percent increase in power compared to the Honda FCX Clarity. The compact fuel cell and integrated powertrain now fits entirely under the hood allowing for more spacious seating.
The new model will feature a low and wide aerodynamic body with clean lines while the interior showcases a refined experience using rich materials and intuitive controls. Like many new model Honda’s, customers will be able to enjoy additional features including the Honda Sensing™ suite of safety and driver assistive technologies, Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™. The Clarity Fuel Cell will be available in Crystal Black Pearl, White Orchid Pearl and signature Bordeaux Red Metallic exterior paint schemes. Over the past month, Frank Ancona Honda has been collecting new, unwrapped toys to be distributed to local area children in need this holiday season. With the support of the Kansas City community, we were able to collect over 225 toys for our first year as an official sponsor for the Toys for Tots program.
Frank Ancona Honda is committed to philanthropic charities that support kids and families. It has donated and helped fundraise for charities like City Union Mission, the Ronald McDonald House, Catholic Charities, the Phoenix Family, KidsTLC and more.
In the article, David Heitman, general sales manager for Frank Ancona Honda, said, “Because the Anconas have so many charities and organizations they give to, they felt like this one, especially at Christmas time, is something special for the kids. That’s what it is all about.”
This was Frank Ancona Honda’s first year sponsoring the Toys for Tots program and we can’t wait to see what the response will be for the years to come.
Heitman said, “It is that time of year where there is that special feeling in the air, and the children need to keep that special feeling alive. This is one way to give back and help that. Thank goodness for the United States Marines Corps Reserves who created the event for giving toys for the ones in need and the ones who deserve them the most.”

The 2016 Honda Pilot was released earlier this year and has already received numerous awards and reviews for its safe driving technology. The 2016 model features a few design changes and “Honda-Sensing,” which is a set of driver-aid technology advancements, making it the best SUV out on the market.
In a press release from Honda, Jeff Conrad, Honda division senior vice president and general manager said, “With the addition of advanced safety and driver-assistive technologies available through Honda Sensing, no other midsize mainstream SUV on the market today can match the Pilot’s top IIHS and NHTSA safety scores.”
This past August, the 2016 Pilot received a Top Safety Pick from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS). The IIHS is an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing the losses – deaths, injuries and property damage – from crashes on the nation’s roads. The Pilot aced IHHS’ collision test and earned a superior rating for its front crash prevention system.

The 2016 Honda Pilot also recently received a maximum 5-Star Safety Rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in its New Car Assessment Program (NCAP). The NCAP created the 5-Star Safety Ratings Program to provide information about the crash protection and rollover safety of new vehicles beyond what is required by Federal law. The more stars in a rating means the safer the car. See the full rating here.
Children are our nation’s biggest resource. Today’s children make up our future leaders, but according to the National Center for Children in Poverty, more than 16 million children in the United States live below the federal poverty level, accounting for 22 percent of all children. Poverty is one of the biggest threats to a child’s well-being, causing poor general and mental health. It also affects the child’s ability to learn and leads to low self-esteem.
The federal poverty level for a family of four in the United States is $23,550 a year; however, research has shown that families need an income of about twice as much to cover basic expenses. This means about 45 percent of all children live in low-income families. With close to half the population of children living close to poverty levels, the holiday season can bring sadness and stress. By having just enough income to cover basic expenses, families often have to go without toys during the holiday season.
This is why Frank Ancona Honda is happy to be a local sponsor of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program. The Toys for Tots program aims to collect and distribute new, unwrapped toys to children in need during the holiday season. The program wants to deliver a message of hope to those less fortunate and encourage them to become responsible, productive and patriotic citizens.
Help spread the message of hope this holiday season by bringing in new toys to our store. Together we can help spread holiday cheer to those less fortunate. Bring in a toy today to our store located at 1000 N. Rogers Rd in Olathe, Kan. We will accept toy donations now through December 16, 2015. You can also give a monetary donation to the Toys for Tots program on its website.
About Toys for Tots: The Toys for Tots program became a foundation for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve in 1995. The program aims help less fortunate children throughout the United States experience the joy of Christmas. Toys for Tots helps unite all members of the community to play an active role in the development of our children. Over its lifespan, the program has distributed over 416 million toys to over 195 million less fortunate children.
The highly anticipated 2016 Honda Civic was recently released on November 12, 2015. The 10th generation Civic debuted with a revamped look jam-packed with new Honda features. We aren’t the only one’s taking notice. Kelley Blue Book recently announced the 2016 Honda Civic as the Overall Best Buy in its Best Buy Awards. The new Civic raises the bar for all compact cars with its sleek and modern design. With a larger model than years past, the civic almost feels like a midsize sedan.
What’s New with the 2016 Honda Civic?*
The redesigned Civic was created with usability in mind, making it easy to drive and use. It gets 42 mpg on the highway and 31 mpg in the city. From a capless fuel system, to a remote engine start and automatic brake holding, the 2016 Honda Civic Sedan has a full list of new features:
Turbocharged Engine: A new 1.5 liter engine offers high cruise efficiency and robust performance.

Winter in Kansas City can be pretty unpredictable, but one thing is for sure, it gets cold. Did you know that cold weather is accountable for over 63 percent of weather-related deaths in the United States? According to a report by the National Center for Health Statistics, cold winter weather kills more than twice as many Americans as the unbearable summer heat.
No one deserves to freeze out in the cold this winter because they don’t have the proper winter coat to help keep them warm, especially children. According to kidshealth.org, children are at a greater risk for frostnip and frostbite than adults. The best way to prevent this is to make sure they are dressed warmly and don’t spend too much time in cold weather.
Winter coats can be expensive, often causing children to have to face the winter months without proper warmth. Here at Frank Ancona Honda, we always try to give back to the community, which is why we are happy to announce that we are a drop-off location for new or gently used winter coats to help local children in need this winter.
Want to help? Drop off new or gently used winter coats to help children in need to our store located at 1000 North Rogers Road in Olathe, Kan. The cut-off date for this year’s drive is December 4, 2015, but we will continue accepting donations throughout 2016 to prepare for next winter. After the cut-off we will take all the donated coats to a local dry cleaner to be professionally cleaned before being distributed to local charities and kids across the Kansas City Metro.
Winter weather will be here before we know it, so please bring your new coat donations to our store today to help local children stay warm this winter.
