Last Tuesday at the New York Auto Show, Honda revealed the latest, much anticipated details on the Civic Hatchback concept. The announcement was made via live-stream, making it available for viewing worldwide, amping up car and racing enthusiasts everywhere.
In the live-stream, Jeff Conrad, Senior Vice President & General Manager, Honda Division, presented this next chapter in the “Civic Story”. The Civic is the most ambitious endeavor of a compact class sports sedan to date. It’s being called Honda’s most sophisticated model yet; a world-class platform for the newest-generation Civic model. Conrad said, “Our customers have truly embraced this new Civic.”
Epic Honda firsts arrive alongside this announcement, including “First Turbo-Charged Engine” for a U.S. Civic Model. But the list of exciting features doesn’t end there; the new model wouldn’t be complete without a more spacious and premium cabin, 42 miles per gallon on the highway, 0-60 miles-per-hour acceleration and an option for 6-speed manual transmission.
The Civic Hatchback has been titled, “Most Ambitious,” “Seriously Sporty” and “Seriously Green.” The Hatchback should hit dealerships later this year, completing the 10th generation Civic lineup. On Twitter, fans can’t contain their excitement for the release of the new Civic Hatchback in the U.S.

The compact sedan market is a very competitive market. Two of its top contenders are the 2016 Honda Civic and the 2016 Toyota Corolla. A meticulous comparison of these cars reveals that the Civic comes out on top in three major areas.
Needless to say, efficiency is going to be one of the most important factors when anyone is considering a compact car. Honda knows this and this is why the Civic delivers such fantastic fuel economy at 31 mpg in the city and 41 mpg on the highway*. That’s better than the Toyota Corolla’s 31/38 mpg.
Since the Honda Civic delivers far better fuel economy than the Toyota Corolla, you would expect the Corolla to win in the power department; however, this is not the case. The Honda Civic delivers 158 horsepower compared to the Corolla’s 132 horsepower.
Just because it’s a compact car doesn’t mean it can’t have plenty of interior space for passengers and cargo. The Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla share a similar volume of passenger space. However, when it comes to cargo space, the Civic beats the Corolla hands down. While the Corolla only has 13 cubic feet of cargo volume, the Civic features 15.1 cubic feet.
If you’re doing a 2016 Honda Civic vs. 2016 Toyota Corolla comparison, you’ll see that where it counts, the Civic makes for a smarter choice.
*27 city/40 highway/31 combined mpg rating for 6MT model. 31 city/41 highway/35 combined mpg rating for LX & EX CVT models. 31 city/42 highway/35 combined mpg rating for EX-T, EX-L and Touring CVT models. Based on 2016 EPA mileage ratings. Use for comparison purposes only. Your mileage will vary depending on how you drive and maintain your vehicle, driving conditions and other factors.

Our latest models have everyone talking. Honda stole the show this year with high ratings from Kelley Blue Book, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, just to name a few. Value and safety awards make up a large portion of Honda’s achievements this year.
Kelley Blue Book’s KBB.com named several 2016 Honda Models with Overall Best Buy, Best Buy, Best Value Brand and Best Resale Value Awards. We’re proud to announce that the 2016 Honda Civic is the Overall Best Buy according to Kelley Blue Book’s KBB.com, along with the 2016 Honda CR-V, Pilot and Odyssey, which were named Best Buy of the Year in their respective classes.
Additional awards include U.S. News naming the CR-V the Best Car for the Money among compact SUVs. The Honda Fit also was also recognized by U.S. News rankings and was awarded the Best Car for the Money title in the Subcompact and Hatchback categories. Both the CR-V and Fit were commended for their high EPA-estimated mpg ratings and low long-term ownership costs.
