The 2013 Honda Civic Sedan and Coupe Models Remain the Only Small Cars to Achieve Top IIHS Small Overlap Frontal Crash Ratings

Posted by Jason Heard, general sales manager at Frank Ancona Honda

Honda has always had a reputation for taking safety seriously, but now Honda drivers can feel safer than ever as Honda recently reported that the 2013 Honda Civic Sedan and 2013 Honda Civic Coupe models remain the only small cars to achieve the top Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) small overlap frontal crash rating of GOOD. The Civic Sedan and Coupe are also the only small cars to earn the highest possible rating of TOP SAFETY PICK+ from the IIHS and the top 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score in the NHTSA’s New Car Assessment Program.

Honda continues to lead the industry in crash test performance, and after watching the videos, I think every compact car shopper should view the results of the new IIHS small overlap front crash tests before deciding on their next car,” Mike Accavitti, senior vice president of auto operations at American Honda Motor Co., Inc., said in the press release. “For customers looking to buy a compact car that achieves an overall GOOD rating in the IIHS small overlap frontal test, Civic is currently the only choice.”

Honda Honors Fantastic Fathers in “Dads Doing Good” Campaign

Posted by Jason Heard, general sales manager at Frank Ancona Honda

Honda is teaming up with the National Fatherhood Initiative (NFI) and Life of Dad to create a series of videos showcasing the amazing work that fathers do in the “Dads Doing Good” campaign.

For five weeks, videos of dads using the 2014 Honda Odyssey to make a positive impact on their families and communities will be featured on the NFI and Life of Dad websites.

“We are proud to support the “Dads Doing Good” program this summer,” Alicia Jones, manager of Honda and Acura social marketing at American Honda Motor Co., Inc., said in a news release. “The 2014 Honda Odyssey is the perfect vehicle to help enable these dads to help in the community.”

Each video shows just how dynamic the 2014 Honda Odyssey can be. For Week 1, the dads turned the Odyssey into a library-on-wheels, and for Week 2, the fathers raised awareness for congenital heart defects by turning the vehicle into a lemonade stand.

Check out the NFI website for more weekly videos.

Honda Launches “Project Drive-In”

Posted By Jason Heard, Sales Manager at Frank Ancona Honda

Hollywood is making the switch from celluloid to digital in the next few months, and while most large indoor movie theaters take in enough profit to afford the switch, the transition might ring the death knell for the 400-plus American drive-in theaters that are already struggling. In an effort to save these classic cultural icons, Honda recently announced the start of their Project Drive-In campaign.

According to the campaign’s website, “In less than 3 months, the majority of American drive-in theaters will face closure with the movie industry’s switch from film to digital. Upgrading to digital projection costs roughly $80,000. We want to preserve this iconic part of American car culture. So we’re taking the first step by starting a drive-in fund and donating 5 digital projectors.”

Honda is inviting people to decide where those digital projectors will go by voting on Project Drive-In’s website, which has an interactive map of the location of every drive-in movie theater.

Those who wish to do more can donate to the digital projector fund or take a pledge (published on Facebook or Twitter) to visit a local drive-in theater this season. Honda is also asking people to help spread the word and has made logos, flyers, digital badges and Facebook cover photos featuring the tagline “Don’t let them go dark” available for download.
