Honda recently announced a partnership with SolarCity, America’s largest solar power provider, according to the motor company’s website. The collaboration is an important step toward reducing CO2 emissions, which contribute to global climate change.

The American Council for Energy-Efficient Economy reminded the nation of Honda’s irrefutable contribution to a greener world when the council announced that the Fit EV and Civic Hybrid were named to the list of the Greenest Vehicles of 2013 last week.

Honda Fit EV & Honda Civic Hybrid Named Greenest Vehicles in 2013

According to Honda, the Honda Fit EV, an entirely electric car, was named one of the Greenest Vehicles in 2013 by the American Council for Energy-Efficient Economy. The “Greenest Vehicles of 2013” is an exclusive list of 12 top models that have achieved the highest overall Green Scores, according to ACEEE’s Green Book®. Celebrate National Car Care Month With Maintenance Tips for Your Honda

Posted By: Jason Heard, Sales Manager at Frank Ancona Honda

Celebrate National Car Care Month with some maintenance tips from the Car Care Council.

  1. Check all fluids, including engine oil, power steering, brake and transmission as well as windshield washer solvent and antifreeze/coolant.

  2. Check the hoses and belts to make sure they are not cracked, brittle, frayed, loose or showing signs of excessive wear.

  3. Check the battery and replace if necessary. Make sure the connection is clean, tight and corrosion-free.

  4. Check the brake system annually and have the brake linings, rotors and drums inspected at each oil change.

  5. Inspect the exhaust system for leaks, damage and broken supports or hangers if there is an unusual noise. Exhaust leaks can be dangerous and must be corrected without delay.

  6. Schedule a tune-up to help the engine deliver the best balance of power and fuel economy and produce the lowest level of emissions.

  7. Check the heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) system, as proper heating and cooling performance is critical for interior comfort and for safety reasons such as defrosting.

  8. Inspect the steering and suspension system annually including shock absorbers, struts and chassis parts such as ball joints, tie rod ends and other related components.

  9. Check the tires, including tire pressure and tread. Uneven wear indicates a need for wheel alignment. Tires should also be checked for bulges and bald spots.

  10. Check the wipers and lighting so that you can see and be seen. Check that all interior and exterior lighting is working properly and replace worn wiper blades so you can see clearly when driving during precipitation.

Don’t forget to bring your Honda by for some Spring cleaning. Schedule your service appointment online or call 913-782-3636 today!

Honda Civic Receives 2013 TOP SAFETY PICK+ By Insurance Institute for Highway Safety

Posted By: Jason Heard, Sales Manager at Frank Ancona Honda

The Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) recently awarded the 2013 Honda Civic Sedan and Coupe the highest available safety rating of TOP SAFETY PICK+. This is the first and only IIHS small car in the industry to earn this award.

2013 Honda Civic Sedan and Coupe First Small Cars to Achieve TOP SAFETY PICK+ Rating in IIHS Safety Testing

According to Honda’s news release, “The new Civic Sedan, equipped with the second generation of the Honda Advanced Compatibility Body Structure™ (ACE™II), is not only the first Small car to earn TOP SAFETY PICK+ in the industry, but also the first and only to earn the highest possible rating of GOOD on the IIHS’ new small overlap frontal crash test (sometimes called a ‘narrow offset’ test). This aggressive test is designed to simulate what happens when the front corner of a vehicle collides with another vehicle or an object such as a tree or utility pole at high speed.”

“If you want a compact car with a TOP SAFETY PICK+ rating, the 2013 Honda Civic is the only choice,” said Art St. Cyr, vice president of product planning and logistics at American Honda. “We believe this is a distinct competitive advantage, especially as more and more consumers place a premium on crash rating performance.”

Honda leads all other brands in achieving TOP SAFETY PICK+ ratings with four models – Civic Sedan and Coupe, and Accord Sedan and Coupe.
